Why ICT is essential?
Information and communication technology is one of the pillars of economic development that increases national competitive advantage. It can improve the quality of human life because it can serve as a learning and educational media, mass media, and promote practical and important issues such as health and social fields. It provides a broader range of knowledge that can help in accessing information.
Information and communication technology have become an indispensable part of many people’s daily lives. It increases its importance in people’s lives and this trend is expected to continue for ICT literacy to become a functional requirement for people’s work, social and personal life.
Information and communication technology [ICT] is basically an effort of our society to teach current and emerging citizens valuable knowledge and skills in computing and communication equipment, to manipulate their software, to run their applications, and to build systems using them.
In reality today we are living in an ever-evolving digital world. ICT has an impact on almost every aspect of our lives – from work to social, learning to play. The digital age has changed the way young people communicate, network, seek help, access information and learn. We must thus realize that young people are now an online population, accessed through a variety of means such as computers, television and mobile phones.
” MESSAGE FROM CHAIRPERSON
15 years back I formed our Training Institute (PCTL Training Institute Limited), During the last 15 years a lot of underprivileged people reached us in need of support for Training on ICT and other areas.

Using the little resources we had, we sponsored these underprivileged and made them ready for jobs. The beneficiaries of this initiative are working in different organizations today and some are working at different departments within our company itself. Indeed we are happy about this.
In 2021 we embarked on another ICT training project that involved training secondary teachers, We received overwhelming responses from the project. We observed the need for such training was inevitable.
So far we have received many requests from different schools asking for assistance in different ICT areas such as:
– Training the teachers on ICT
– Requesting for computer laboratories
– Requesting for laptops to teachers
– Requesting for desktops
– Projectors
– Internet connections etc
We are aware of the government’s good intentions with regards to digital Tanzania ( e-governance, digital schools etc). However the truth is; the government can’t do this alone. It needs support from different individuals and organizations.
This is what we intend to do. We wish to Give back to society and help the government accomplish its goals.
As Powercomputers completed 20 years on one hand. and having in mind the idea of helping the society and government on the other hand, we decided to initiate the ICT FOR ALL-TEHAMA KWA WOTE project during small ceremonies with my staff.
I am happy to say that I have full support of my entire team of staff on this project.
We look forward to changing the lives of Tanzanians through this NGO.
